“How can the symbiotic development of folklore behind traditional Chinese festivals preserve the creation of cultural heritage through immersive public display?”
This project utilises illustration as a visual narrative to explore the
reinterpretationof traditional Chinese festivals in contemporary expression, presented through immersive public exhibitions. It conveys festival myths, temporal rhythms, and cultural memory, examining their contemporary estrangement, rupture, and media reconstruction. Centred on the five major festivals “ Spring Festival, Qingming, Dragon Boat, Qixi, and Mid-Autumn” it constructs an agrarian cyclical "Wheel of Time." Using a circular scroll installation, rotating animation, projection mapping, and sound design, it creates a multi-sensory cultural experience. Festivals are living containers of cultural identity, awakening especially younger audiences to rethink their deep connection with tradition.
